Exam Copy, Desk Copy, and Reprint Permissions for Animating Democracy Publications

Americans for the Arts is pleased to work with instructors who are considering Animating Democracy titles for a course. We have made substantial PDF excerpts from each of our seven new books available online, so that you can readily see and assess them for your teaching purposes.  

To obtain access to the password-protected system, please contact Graham Dunstan at Americans for the Arts by fax at 202.371.0424 or by mail at 1000 Vermont Avenue, NW, 6th Floor, Washington, DC 20005 with the following information. 

  • The title(s) you are considering;
  • The course(s) you will be teaching;
  • The semester in which you will teach the course(s);
  • The estimated enrollment for the class; and
  • Your university address, phone number, fax number, and e-mail address.

All requests must be made on departmental letterhead.

Ordering Books

Americans for the Arts works to create strong relationships with instructors and college and university bookstores. You can arrange to have students buy books directly from our online bookstore, or through your campus bookstore. Bookstore purchasers may work directly with our distributor, PMDS, to order books. Bulk discounts are offered as follows:
  • 5–10 of the same title are offered at a 10% discount
  • 11–30 of the same title are offered at a 25% discount 
  • 31–50 of the same title are offered at a 40% discount 

In order to receive discounts for bulk orders, purchasers must contact PMDS directly at 800.321.4510.

Desk Copies

Due to a limited print run of Animating Democracy books, we encourage use of the above online review process to determine if the books will serve your teaching goals. Once Americans for the Arts receives an order of five or more books from you or your bookstore, we will be pleased to send you a free desk copy. If you choose to have students order directly from the Americans for the Arts online bookstore, contact Graham Dunstan to arrange delivery of your free copy.

Reprint Permission Request

If you would like to request permission to reprint material for a coursepack—or for use in another book, website, or other medium—contact Graham Dunstan at Americans for the Arts by fax at 202.371.0424 or by mail at 1000 Vermont Avenue, NW, 6th Floor, Washington, DC 20005 with the following information:

  • Title of book;
  • Page numbers to be reprinted;
  • Total number of pages;
  • Your use of the material (reprinting for students, republication, etc.); and
  • Your complete contact information including phone number, address, and e-mail.

When the information has been received and reviewed, Graham Dunstan will contact you regarding use.
