Allen Hoffman
Allen Hoffman joined the Connecticut Commission on the Arts in August 1997 as their legislative liaison. Following an agency reorganization, he now works for the Commission on Culture and Tourism, where he is responsible for all of the agency's advocacy efforts that include the arts, film, history and museums, historic preservation, the humanities, and tourism. Mr. Hoffman received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in music composition from the Hartt College of Music. He has been a professional teacher in theory and composition for 12 years at both Hartt College and at the Hartford Conservatory, and he has been the recipient of numerous awards, fellowships, and publications. He has owned and operated a small business for nearly 30 years and has been active in, and of service to, community groups, town boards and commissions, as well as regional and state boards and commissions. Additionally, Mr. Hoffman has served in the House of Representatives where he was appointed to serve on the Appropriations, Education, and Judiciary committees.
Mr. Hoffman served as vice president of the State Arts Advocacy League of America for many years, and he is now a member of the newly organized Council of the State Arts Action Network.
