The San Diego Foundation

The San Diego Foundation is a primary local recipient of disaster relief funds associated with the San Diego fires. Funds donated to its After The Fires Fund 2007 will be used to help the community recover and eventually in the rebuilding effort, as opposed to immediate human relief needs. Donors wishing to make a stock transfer, a donor-advised transaction, or corporate donation may contact the foundation by phone.

After the 2003 San Diego wildfires, $3.2 million in grants were distributed to the community within six to eight months. Artists or arts organizations seeking grants should e-mail the foundation for more information. The foundation is currently in the fact-finding stage of the grantmaking process, and will work with grant seekers individually to best meet their needs. The San Diego Foundation only makes grants to tax-exempt nonprofit organizations, but will assist individual artists via organizations that directly serve their needs.
