National Arts and Cultural Organizations Offering Relief Assistance
American Guild of Musical Artists and The Actors Fund
The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) Relief Fund, in partnership with The Actors Fund, provides support and temporary financial assistance to members who are in need. This nationwide program provides comprehensive social services including counseling and referrals for personal, family, or work-related problems. Linkage is made to community resources for legal services, elder care, entitlement benefits, and childcare. Financial assistance is available for rent, utilities, mental health and medical care, as well as other basic living expenses. Grants are given based on need. The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Inc.
The Pollock-Krasner Foundation’s mission is to aid those individuals who have worked as professional artists—including painters, sculptors, paper artists, and printmakers over a significant period of time. Applications are accepted throughout the year, and grants are intended for a one-year period of time. The Foundation encourages applications from artists who have genuine financial needs that are not necessarily catastrophic. U.S. Small Business Administration
The U.S. Small Business Administration provides various types of loans for businesses of all sizes and homeowners and renters in the event of a disaster. This includes physical disaster loans, economic injury loans, military reservists' loans, and home and personal property loans. Visit their website for a Disaster Recovery Plan and detailed instruction on applying for assistance.
Rebuilding your home or business after a declared disaster could be easier with a long-term, low-interest loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration. If your property is damaged in a declared disaster area, you may be eligible for a loan from SBA. Homeowners and renters may apply for these loans to pay recovery costs not covered by insurance up to $40,000 to repair or replace clothing, furniture, cars or appliances damaged or destroyed in the disaster. Homeowners may apply for up to $200,000 to repair or replace their primary residence to its pre-disaster condition.

Writers Emergency Assistance Fund
The Writers Emergency Assistance Fund is administered through the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) Charitable Trust. Its mission is to help established, freelance writers across the country who, because of advanced age, illness, disability, a natural disaster, or an extraordinary professional crisis are unable to work. A writer need not be a member of ASJA to qualify for a grant. However, a grant applicant must establish a record of past professional freelance nonfiction writing over a sustained period of years.
