Council

The United Arts Funds Council advises the board of Americans for the Arts about the development of programs, publications, and services that are designed to meet the needs of the nation's more than 70 united arts funds (UAFs). Council members also provide peer-to-peer assistance on the improvement of existing united arts funds and the development of new ones. Council members represent both new and long-established UAFs and are members of Americans for the Arts.

Eligibility:

All members of Americans for the Arts are eligible to serve on a leadership council. The UAF Council is limited to the executive of a UAF organization or the person responsible for policy and overseeing implementation of the campaign.

Responsibilities:

  • UAF Council terms run three years. Council members are eligible for an additional term once their first term is completed.
  • Participate in three UAF Council meetings each year, two in conjunction with Americans for the Arts events and one conference call.
  • Represent the Americans for the Arts UAF Council at events throughout the year.
  • Actively participate in at least one committee.
  • If a UAF Council member misses three meetings in a row, they may be eliminated from the council at the discretion of the UAF Council officers.
  • Once a UAF Council member no longer works for a UAF, they will be asked to step down from the UAF Council.
  • The UAF Council is limited to 21 members.
  • Terms for UAF Council officers are two years.

The current chair of the UAF Council is Jeanie P. Duncan, president and CEO of the United Arts Council of Greensboro.
