Committees

Public Art Network (PAN) Council Committees are each chaired by a member of the PAN Council. Committees are an ideal opportunity for individuals with an interest in leadership to advance the field of public art and to become engaged as active volunteers with the Public Art Network. Committee membership is appointed annually for one calendar year and is renewable. All committee members must be individual or organizational members of Americans for the Arts.

Each Committee works on behalf of and in partnership with the full PAN Council and the Manager of Public Art to develop priorities, goals, resources, and professional development opportunities for individuals and organizations engaged in the broad field of public art. Below is a list of the PAN Council Committees and their areas of focus.

Executive Committee
Focuses on Council policy and operation procedures, overall mission and goals, PAN Award selection, and final candidates for PAN Council elections ballot. The Executive Committee comprises the PAN Council Chair, Co-Chair and the chairs of each of the committees.

Visibility, Advocacy, Alliance Committee
Focuses currently on the development of the Public Art Database, a searchable, online image archive of public art projects. Committee work includes the development of information tools and resources and promoting partnerships that expand the visibility of the field.

Professional Development Committee
Focuses on the creation of PAN Regional Knowledge Networks and the development of public art administrator and artist mentoring programs.

Research, Information and Policy
Develops the PAN Field Survey and Analysis Report, providing detailed information about the state of the field. Report includes budgets and operations of public art programs budgets, project administration costs, design fees, and artist information statistics nationally. The Committee also focuses on research and dissemination of information on best practices and issues of importance to the field.

Convention Planning Committee
Each year a new public art convention committee is formed that includes members of the PAN Council and public art leaders in the local community that hosts the convention. The Americans for the Arts Convention Public Art Track takes place annually at the convention and is an opportunity for everyone to engage in discussion.

If you have an interest in volunteering to serve on of the PAN Council Committees, please contact the PAN Manager.
